Dr. Thomas Richter
Dr. Thomas Richter provides legal defence and legal advice covering all areas of white-collar crime.
He is specialised in criminal law relating to financial markets, and he regularly defends clients against allegations of market manipulation and insider trading. He is a frequent contributor of articles in law journals and in leading legal commentaries on the interfaces of criminal law with capital markets and banking supervision law. A further focus of his practice are bankruptcy and accounting offences, as well as tax offences. He is also experienced in complex environmental criminal cases.
Dr. Thomas Richter represents companies in criminal proceedings and advises on questions of criminal compliance. As personal counsel he advises employees in the context of internal investigations in Germany and abroad, and he is a frequent author of relevant articles in leading practitioner handbooks.
Dr. Thomas Richter was born in Dresden. After graduating from a classical secondary school in Hanover (with qualifications in Latin, classical Greek and classical Hebrew) and subsequent military service, he studied in Münster, Edinburgh and Heidelberg. His legal clerkship included a stint with Shearman & Sterling in New York. Before joining HammPartner, he worked for several as a lawyer for Hengeler Mueller, where he was also seconded to Roschier Attorneys, a leading Nordic commercial law firm in Helsinki.
Dr. Thomas Richter is appointed as a lecturer in legal trainee classes conducted by the Frankfurt Bar.
