The law firm
The law firm HammPartner was founded in April 1979 by Prof. Dr. Rainer Hamm and the former Presiding Judge of the Federal Court Prof. Dr. Werner Sarstedt.
One year later, in 1980, the team was strengthened by Dr. Regina Michalke. Since 1984, Dr. Wolfgang Köberer, Jürgen Pauly, Dr. Stefan Kirsch and Thomas Richter joined the firm. Since 2016 Christoph Tute and Dr. Ricarda Christine Schelzke are strengthening our team, of which the former vice president of the Federal Constitutional Court, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Winfried Hassemer, was also a part of since his admission to the German Bar in 2008 until his death on January 9th, 2014.
Location in Frankfurt
We represent clients before all law enforcement agencies and criminal courts in Germany. We interact constructively with the investigating authorities and the courts, with our clients’ interests always taking top priority. In cross-border investigations we closely work together with foreign colleagues.
The leading publications for the German legal market (for example, Juve, Legal 500, Chambers) are regularly naming us a top law firm for criminal law. Internationally renowned publications such as the Handelsblatt/Best Lawyers or Who's Who Legal recommend lawyers of our firm every year.
We stay up to date with regard to all subareas of criminal law – especially by assessing the criminal law jurisdiction of the supreme courts – as well as related disciplines such as constitutional law, criminology, criminalistics and risk prevention law.
Cooperation with external colleagues
Regarding white-collar offences, criminal tax offences, environmental offences, product liability offences and cartel offences, our close co-operation with external expert colleagues has proven successful. These colleagues are familiar with the respective specialist areas of commercial law, corporate law, tax law and administrative law.
Criminal Law Library
Our comprehensive specialist library, inherited from Werner Sarstedt and continuously updated, supported by electronic aids and online databases, allows us to work academically in legal argumentations as well as to publish scientifically. Our IT network helps us cope with comprehensive case files, which are electronically processed by our qualified staff and thus made transportable and easy to handle.
