Welcome at Hamm & Partner

The law firm HammPartner was founded in April 1979 by Prof. Dr. Rainer Hamm and the former presiding justice of the Federal Supreme Court of Germany, Prof. Dr. Werner Sarstedt. Dr. Regina Michalke joined the firm one year later in 1980. Since 1984, the firm has grown through the additions of Dr. Wolfgang Köberer, Jürgen Pauly, Dr. Stefan Kirsch, Dr. Claudia Koch and finally, following his admittance as attorney on 2 October 2008, the former Vice President of the German Constitutional Court, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Winfried Hassemer.

The seven attorneys, born between 1940 and 1973, constitute a unified legal team. Each attorney that has been practicing for several years is qualified as a “Fachanwalt für Strafrecht” (Specialist for Criminal Law).

Werner Sarstedt died in 1985; the firm inherited his legal library, which is admired - and sometimes consulted - by colleagues and friends who are working and teaching in the field of penal law. Although we have broadened our basis of legal resources and information media by incorporating electronic publications in our library and gaining access to online data bases, we are still enlarging our body of printed books and keeping them up-to-date.
In November 1998 the office moved to the "Gründerzeit" building in the Frankfurt West End shown on our index page. This move was imperative as our former office at Hammanstr. 10 had become too cramped due to the increase in personnel and also due to the fact that neither the space for our library nor for case files was sufficient any more.

As there are no restrictions to practising as defense counsels with regard to regions or courts, we can act on behalf of our clients anywhere in Germany and in all criminal courts. We therefore do not intend to open up offices in other cities. The size of our firm and its age structure enables us to offer highly specialized and individualized services for our clients, both individuals and minor as well as major companies. For this reason we intend to grow naturally as before without following the present trend of mergers.
