Who we are
The law firm HammPartner was founded in April 1979 by Prof. Dr. Rainer Hamm and the former Presiding Judge of the Federal Court, Prof. Dr. Werner Sarstedt. One year later (1980), the team was strengthened by the addition of lawyer Dr. Regina Michalke. Since 1984, Dr. Wolfgang Köberer, Jürgen Pauly, Dr. Stefan Kirsch and Dr. Claudia Koch (until February 2012) as well as the former Vice President of the German Constitutional Court Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Winfried Hassemer (after his admission to the bar on 2 October 2008) joined the firm. Lawyer Bea Herrschaft is our youngest colleague, who simultaneously is working on her PhD at the University of Passau.
These currently seven associated lawyers, constituting a unified legal team, were born between 1940 and 1982. Those who have practiced law for several years are qualified as specialist lawyers for criminal law.
As lawyers in Germany are not subject to legal practice restrictions regarding regions, courts or stages of appeal for criminal matters, we can represent clients before all law enforcement agencies and criminal courts in Germany and thus do not intend to expand beyond our current Frankfurt location.
We intend to continue to provide individualized service for clients. Our specialisation on criminal law allows us to stay up to date with regard to all subareas of criminal law as well as related disciplines such as constitutional law, criminology, criminalistics and risk prevention law. Regarding white-collar offences, environmental offences, product liability offences, cartel offences and medical liability law, our close co-operation with external expert colleagues has proven successful. These colleagues are familiar with the respective specialist areas of commercial law, corporate law, tax law and administrative law.
Our comprehensive specialist library, inherited from Werner Sarstedt and continuously updated, supported by electronic aids and online databases, allows us to work academically in legal argumentations, e.g. in appeals and constitutional challenges. Our IT network helps us cope with comprehensive case files, which are electronically processed by our qualified staff and thus made transportable and easy to handle.
We set great store by our clients being able to contact the lawyer they trust to discuss any problems. We interact constructively with the investigating authorities and the courts, with our clients’ interests always taking top priority.
